“I had known from a young age that writing was my passion and it’s what I always thought I’d end up doing”. Meet inspiration, writer, and fashion blogger Alexandra Grant, founder of the popular Vancouver-based street style fashion blog, To Vogue Or Bust.
After deciding she would rather follow her passions than a practical career, Alexandra founded To Vogue or Bust. Since beginning her blog, Alexandra has worked in public relations, journalism and social media management, on top of being a full-time blogger. Her blog has evolved into a personal style diary that documents her classic, approachable style.
Today we chat with the lady behind her laptop and also in front of the Camera at To Vogue Or Bust.
What is your personal motto?
Timshel. It’s a Hebrew word found in East of Eden, my favourite book, by John Steinbeck. Basically, it means “thou mayest” – that no matter what happens to you, you always have a choice. In other words, you always choose your attitude, your reactions and how you feel!
How do you describe your personal style?
Classic with a twist. I also like to balance contrasts: tomboy with femme details, casual with fancy.

Charlotte Casiraghi, Françoise Hardy, Catherine Deneuve, Diane Kruger and Marion Cotillard!
You look very good in front of Camera! Do you have any tips to share with us?
Get comfortable: the more open and relaxed you are, the better you’ll photograph! Also, know what works for you – if a certain angle or pose always works, then by all means, use it!
Who are your favorite fashion designers?
I love Dion Lee, and also fond of other Australian brands like Ellery. I also love Chloé, Balenciaga and in my opinion, anything Raf Simons does is perfection.
Where do you see the future of To Vogue Or Bust?
Hopefully To Vogue or Bust will expand one day into more of a lifestyle space. I’m really passionate about a number of things on top of fashion, including fitness, nutrition, music, and much, much more. I’d love to explore these passions more and take my readers along for the ride!
